CPJ on Goldhawk Live

CPJ's policy analyst Karri Munn-Venn will appear on Goldhawk Live with Dale Goldhawk on the Cable Public Affairs Channel on Sunday November 29 at 7PM ET / 4PM PT.

The question that callers will be asked to answer is "Are our leaders doing enough to reduce child poverty?"

Earlier this week, Members of Parliament passed this unanimous motion:

"That, with November 24th, 2009 marking the 20th anniversary of the 1989 unanimous resolution of this House to eliminate poverty among Canadian children by the year 2000, and not having achieved that goal, be it resolved that the Government of Canada, taking into consideration the Committee’s work in this regard, and respecting provincial and territorial jurisdiction, develop an immediate plan to eliminate poverty in Canada for all."

Join host Dale Goldhawk and his guests Sunday:

Ed Broadbent, former Member of Parliament and leader of the New Democratic Pary, moved the original 1989 motion to reduce child poverty by the year 2000 on his last day as leader.

Karri Munn-Venn: policy analyst with Citizens for Public Justice, and a member of Campaign 2000, the organization that released the Report Card on Child Poverty in Canada this week. It found that about one in ten Canadian children live in poverty - the same as in 1989.
