Engaging your MP

CPJ’s Envisioning Canada Without Poverty campaign has ended. We thank CPJ members and supporters for contacting their MPs and sharing the important message that poverty must be addressed. Thanks to you, the campaign was a success. For new opportunities to get involved in the fight against poverty, check out CPJ’s new campaign: Dignity for All.

CPJ is calling on its members, supporters and those concerned about poverty in Canada to contact their Members of Parliament and ask for a federal poverty reduction strategy in Canada. You can voice your concerns in a letter and ask for their commitment, or you can set up a meeting with your MP in his or her local constituency office to dialogue about how to move forward in the fight against poverty. Inform, challenge, encourage and support your MP to become involved in creating a comprehensive plan for the millions of Canadians living in poverty.

If you visit your MP, please send us a photo for our photo gallery. This is a visible sign of the growing movement against poverty in Canada!

If you write your MP, please send us a copy of your letter. You can address the copy you send us to the spokesperson for poverty issues of each party (Lynne Yelich, Ken Dryden, Tony Martin and Yves Lessard). We will present them when we meet with each of the parties this fall to encourage them to adopt a federal poverty reduction strategy.
