You raise a very important point, Mariel. I remember talking to classmates when I was in university who survived on very limited diets, because they couldn't afford much. Already then, I wondered what kind of impact it has on your ability to study when you have a bowl of cereal or a can of creamed corn for supper. We tend to treat student poverty like a rite of passage, a cultural joke, when it can have real implications for health, grades, and future opportunities.
