Building a Sustainable Recovery for All Canadians
Too many Canadians are still waiting to experience recovery and risk being permanently left behind. CPJ believes that the best way of achieving a sustainable economic recovery is to ensure that all Canadians are able to participate in the economy. This can be achieved without significantly increasing the government’s budget through a reallocation of priorities. In our brief to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance, we offer recommendations for Budget 2012 that could create as many as 128,500 new jobs while boosting economic growth and creating greater income security for low income Canadians through investments in housing, Aboriginal programs, the National Child Benefit Supplement, green technology and eco-retrofits.
