Civic engagement: Poverty elimination and housing
Last week we prepared two brochures for a group of Canadian high school students who were interested in contacting and writing letters to their Members of Parliament about supporting various justice initiatives. Based on legislation currently before the House of Commons, we decided to send them information on poverty elimination and housing.
Each brochure focuses on the history and present state of these issues in Canada, following by the relevant legislation currently before the House of Commons. Bill C-545, An Act to eliminate poverty in Canada, addresses the need for poverty elimination and Bill C-304, An Act to ensure secure, adequate, accessible and affordable housing for Canadians, addresses Canada’s need for access to affordable housing.
Check out these brochures below!
We hope this information is helpful and please don’t hesitate to contact your MP about the need to act to eliminate poverty and to ensure that all Canadians have access to a home.
