Donate your tax credit to social housing

I received an excellent suggestion from a CPJ supporter about the federal government's tax credit for home renovations. JD from Victoria writes:

"I was planning to paint my house this year-but I was not expecting/planning to have the Federal Government pay part of the bill. We have 1500 people who are homeless in Victoria, with an estimated 15000 in the rest of BC.

I would be more than willing to "donate" my $1350.O0 Driveways and Decks Tax Credit , towards a Federal Housing Plan that acknowledges our national housing crisis . We need this government to "Be the Change" that we want to see. This budget is clearly unfair for people without homes-and fairness is supposed to be a Canadian value. If 4.6 million households think the same way, then our $6 billion "donation" could be immediately used to kick start the Plan."

What a great idea!
