<title>Canada’s affluence is all the more reason to improve human rights</title>
 <link>http://www.cpj.ca/en/content/canada%E2%80%99s-affluence-all-more-reason-improve-human-rights</link>
<description>The UN&amp;amp;rsquo;s 82 member delegations gathered in Geneva on April 26 to review Canada&amp;amp;rsquo;s human rights performance. Together, they issued 162 recommendations dealing with everything from racial profiling to food security and basic sanitation. Canada has committed to responding to the UPR recommendations by September. CPJ will join other civil society and Aboriginal organizations tomorrow, Tuesday, May 28, in a consultation with federal, provincial and territorial government officials (convened by the Department of Canadian Heritage) to provide input into the development of the official response. <title>Setbacks and successes in the fight for affordable housing</title>
 <link>http://www.cpj.ca/en/content/setbacks-and-successes-fight-affordable-housing</link>
<description>In Canada, 300,000 people are homeless, and many millions more are precariously housed. CPJ and people of faith across the country have been at the forefront in calling on the federal government to make housing and homelessness a national priority by making important policy changes and providing much-needed funding. Over the past few months, we&amp;amp;rsquo;ve witnessed some setbacks on the housing front, but there have also been signs of hope and progress. Here&amp;amp;rsquo;s the latest. Read more »
